about

Dusk Structure is the result of an attempt at making a cohesive piece of music out of an excess of field recordings I had made in the Hudson Valley and Western Massachusetts in early July of 2018. However, as the piece began to grow and take form, the field recordings were ever more pushed into the background, and the synthesizer compositions I was building around them began to take prominence. In the end, the field recordings became but a trace, a kind of skeletal structure over which the synthesizer work organically grew and developed. It was made during the months of October and November 2018, generally in the evenings, as the days shortened into winter. I feel that the final composition came to reflect or take on some of the particular qualities of these hours.
